I looked around and don't see anything related to this in my brief search....

but, have we thought about advertising this place a little? I'm not talking about going out and getting a TV commercial or anything stupid like that. Just try to get the name out there a little bit. The active member base of this place has nose dived. I think we could use some more traffic to make this place interesting again.

MAN UP NICKY

Now that I think about it, we don't have on-site advertising either. Surely Oinks could put an Adsense thing at the bottom or whatever and become a millionaire at our expense.

I don't really want to see ads on the site if it can be helped, but I do want to put the name out there.

Only way I'll feel ok putting the name on my car is if I can clear out some of the more personal things I've posted here as well as some of the more embarrassing things I've said in the past. If that's ok with everyone (especially onyx, obviously) then I'd be happy to do it. Probably won't get a ton of new traffic just from my car alone but it won't hurt.

That's true, but if you just get one person, it would be successful. I was thinking a small anti-rice sticker on the back of my truck, see if I can get just one person. Maybe links in signatures, etc on other forums you guys go to, and... I don't know. Just gotta spread the word just a little. 10-15 new people could make this place a whole new board.

Personally, I think these ideas are great. Even if we just do something as minor as window stickers for our cars, I think that would make a pretty big difference. They're not very expensive either. The site doesn't need to make a profit off of it either so that's a plus. We really should get back into shirts, coffee mugs, stickers, etc. There's plenty of sites out there that do it. And, if no one buys anything, there isn't really anything lost.

I'll put up a thread in the Admin section about this and report back.

I also think we need to do away with the front page and just do a redirect to the forum. The main page is still "under construction" (Dewman!) and makes it seem like a broken site so, even if we do have people hit the landing page, they likely just close the tab.

I'll rock an AR decal and t-shirt. The place needs some fresh blood here.

Hell yea, I'd be in for some window stickers and a new T-shirt. I agree on the redirect to the forum. The main page just isn't helping us much.

I made the main page redirect to the forums at this point. We can always go back if we need to.

I'd throw a simple vinyl cut decal on all of my rigs.

A few new faces around here would be nice.

I'm glad this is garnering some interest and support. What other free places can you guys think of posting stuff?

I realize this may be ridiculous, but it's just an idea. What about slapping a few advertisements on craigslist like sites, it's free, just gonna take time. I'm just trying to get everyone thinking.

Well, I don't get a TON of traffic on my YouTube channel yet... but I do get a lot of views when I post new racing videos. I could throw in an advert there...

Any exposure is good exposure....

What about an Anti-rice facebook page?   ....that is millions of miles of legwork that can be done in one spot.

I will gladly help. I'm familiar with getting around FB's stupid page outreach and I can get the new page noticed on a few other car pages.

I'll volunteer to handle the AR Facebook page, or at least assist with it, I mean.

Here's the one I created and manage for my racing division:

I follow a couple cops on Facebook, called PoliceBotter, there are several of them updating and posting stuff, they just take shifts on who is on that day. It works out well for them, I don't see why that can't work here too. As long as everyone plays wells together.

The page admin can limit what the page "moderators" can access. If Onyx or Kal wanted to give a few of us specific jobs... like, Chaos could scrounge up the daily ricer photo (edited to blur license plates and such), Wicho could write a weekly thing about detailing or F1 or whatever other car things he knows about/is into, etc, so on, so forth.
