A unsuspecting sleeper...
« on: October 12, 2013, 12:37:04 AM »
It's an awesome engine in a very unsuspecting car, even with it's VR4 looks.

That's right, there's a 2JZ in there...

Neat but that is an absolutely hideous paint color on that car. Sounds fantastic.

Shou'd have kept the red, that color is awful

That is a Galant VR-4... Those wheels and more aggressive bodywork give away that it's a performance car. A sleeper would be a normal Galant with all that work.

Maybe so, but people often just look at them as "Meh, it's just a Galant. So what?"

As for the color, I kinda like it.

Had the engine out, didn't paint the bay to match or at least black. Totally ruins it.

I believe he's taking care of that, as he recently pulled the motor out for some work. New piston heads and rods. He posted it up on his FB:

"8.5 CR 86.5mm CP Pistons / Eagle rods with ARP2000 Rod Bolts,"

He should see some power gains.

Didn't the Galant VR-4 already have a decent engine in it?

The 8th gen VR-4s came with a 2.5L DOHC V6 twin turbo. IIRC, that car was bought with a blown engine, so it wasn't really wasting it's existing engine.

The 2.5L V6 TT is a pretty good engine, I don't believe there's a ton of aftermarket for it. There's a lot for the 3.0L TT from the 3000GT/GTO cars, but those are nit picky enough.
