MKII GTI done *RIGHT*
« on: August 17, 2013, 05:41:36 PM »
A little low for my tastes, but still tasteful.

At this point you're thinking, "Oh god it's just another riced out slammed VW driven by some hoser wearing a beanie and girl pants." I can't speak to the fashion stylings of the owner, so I will just focus on the car.

"The engine is probably a clapped out stock 1.8L," you're thinking. You'd be wrong.

Our tightly-panted owner has installed a 12v VR6 from the MK3 GTI.

A climb inside shows things get a bit more serious:

This thing is impeccable.

The stretched tires are stupid, but the rest of the car is just so perfect. Having owned a car with the VR6, I can only imagine how PERFECT this car must feel. The VR6 has a strong, even powerband and a car weighing ~2400lbs would just be excellent with it.

I just don't understand this tire fad. Like you said, everything else is fantastic.

Did I overlook the time and power numbers in there somewhere?

From what I get from the article the car isn't tracked at all anymore...

But it wasn’t always a street car. Webb has actually owned the GTI for about a decade now, and at the beginning the car was used primarily for track and time attack events. Eventually though, he started a family and with those new obligations he found himself wanting a car that could be driven and enjoyed in a more casual manner.

I've found that some of the photographers for Speedhunters don't get any numbers. Just depends on the guy that took the pics and got the interview.

Stock 12v VR6 is good for 180ish HP.
