[Movie] Fast 6
« on: June 08, 2013, 09:10:07 AM »
I went and had myself a bachelor night on Thursday, and saw this movie by my lonesome.  Seeing a movie by yourself is truly a glorious thing. You don't need a companion by your side to enjoy a movie.  You get to stretch out, fart, enjoy your crinkly-packaged snacks in a damn-near-empty theater, and laugh without contention.

From the opening title sequences, it's very obvious this movie will tie together the entire series.

.  We're re-introduced to the "family" and a couple new characters, and the action is intense from the get-go.

The cars in this movie are awesome. The flip-wedge cars that have been posted all over the internet had the most glorious soundtrack ever...a "turbodiesel" according to Brian Spillner O'Connor. The whole gang gets sucked back into peril and tribulations, and vintage muscle cars are bought.

There are cringeworthy one-liners, glorious street racing scenes, loads of eye candy, and the world's longest runway.

My god I loved it. I was smiling through the whole movie, and went slack-jawed at one particular point due to a plot twist I wasn't expecting. You're rooting for the family the whole time, and at times rooting for the cars themselves.  Definitely one of the best in the series.

Stick around for the credits.

MAJOR suspension of disbelief when Dom wrecks the Daytona (among other stunts), but overall I liked the over the top action. I've almost become desensitized to Hollywood destroying classic cars.

So much suspension of disbelief required but still a fantasticly fun movie.

Apparently the cars they destroy are base models left to rot in a junkyard or something, it wasn't a real Daytona (just a lowly Charger with a kit on it).

With that said, despite all the usual 'yeah-rights' I really dug this movie more than any of the other ones, even if the last scene had a runway of tremendous lengths and Land Rovers keeping up with a cargo jet taking off (I honestly couldn't stop talking about that after it finished). The Jenson Interceptor and Ford Escort RS MK1 were awesome additions to the movie. Flip cars soundtracks were orgasmic. And that little surprise at the end... Really looking forward to 7.
