[Album] Sevendust- Blackout The Sun
« on: March 27, 2013, 10:52:09 AM »
Holy shit....these guys have to be one of the most criminally underrated bands in America right now. No other simple "hard rock" act has the distinctive sound they do, the infectious hooks or the just straight up swagger . I've been a fan of Sevendust since they released Home, and Blackout The Sun reaches back through time and snags the heaviness of Home and Animosity and drags it back to the present. With the release of this album I've totally forgiven Sevendust for the LAME guest spot they gave that Doughtery douche from American Idol on one of the 3 albums they released without Clint Lowery, who is one of the driving song writting forces in the band. In fact, while I am slightly partial to Alpha, the release of Blackout The Sun and their last album Cold Day Memory, the whole Clintless era can basically be forgotten. This album is right up there with Home and Seasons. Catchy, catchy hooks and choruses....LaJon sounds fantastic as he always does, and this album brings an aggressive edge to almost every track. Sevendust really never disappoints, but this album exceeded my epectations. Its easily the heaviest since their self title or Home....which rustles my jimmies in a good way

It's pretty good, as always when it comes to Sevendust. I tend to miss the soaring melodies of some of the songs on Animosity and Seasons, though. Either way, you're very right... Sevendust is extremely underrated. When you hear a 7D song, you immediately know who it is. Can't say that about too many bands right now.

Due what? Cold Day Memory was AWESOME, you need to get it....I recently deleted Chapter IV: Hope and Sorrow...that album was awful....but everything else they've done has at least been enjoyable if not kick ass.

Maybe it's Chapter IV that I'm thinking of.

I didn't mind Chapter IV. There were some good songs on it. Not their greatest of course.

It did have a couple good songs, but as a whole it just didnt feel like a real Sevendust album to me.

I have everything they have released.  Probably my favorite band, or at least very close to it.
Another great album!
