So I think my router took a shit
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:20:26 AM »
and I figure I will just buy a new one.

Need extended range, and just about to go on a new cable plan that should net me 100mb/sec (obviously wired connection, I know I will lose speed with wifi) with DOCIS 3.0 or something...

So suggestions... I've been considering some of the upspec Netgear ones (N900) as this current Netgear has given me great service for the last 5 years...

The modem they are shipping me is a Netgear CG3000 and it is apparently a pile of shit on wifi, so will just use it as a normal wired connection to the router...

100MB/s? I hope that's Mbit and not MB or you have like the fastest internet to ever exist.

I have an Asus RT-N16 that was recommended to me and it's very nice. I don't know about the stock firmware because I flashed DD-WRT on to it. Haven't had any issues with it yet. I like being able to have a network printer set up (although with DD-WRT, that took some searching and configuring).

So got the new Netgear CG3000... And I am getting around 90-95Mbit/sec with the wired connection.

Wifi is dropping down to about 18-20Mbit

Because I am lazy, anyway to get this wireless speed up, with out having to go get another router?
