I tend to have broad and random taste in music. Will jump from Rock, to dubstep, to metal, to pop, to country, to Alternative etc... (notice the lack of Rap)

Oh, you're one of THOSE people...

I'm gonna bump this because I don't really feel the need to start some new thread, but I do have some shit to add here since I was BANT when this discussion took place.

I've been listening to dubstep since about 2009 when Rusko and Caspa and the other British artist first started to blow up on the scene. Then came Skrillex and the American "Brostep" scene which is just goddamn WUBWUBWUBWUWBWUBWUB shit....now there are a few of those songs that I do like but I agree with Nick that most of them sound like Fax Machines fucking or whatever. However, the Canadian dubstep producers like Excision, Datsik and Downlink and still sticking closer to the original Brit sound but still working in a few HARD AS FUCK wubs and I really like the compromise. Excision's Shambala mixtapes from about 2009-2011 are FUCKING amazing. I love throwing them on at work or something as background music. The 2012 one is a little more WUBBITY WUBBITY WUB brostep with a bunch or rap remixes thrown in and I'm digging it, but its not really "dubsted" to me.

Nick, before you totally write the entire genre off...I recommend at least trying to listen to Fabriclive.37 from Rusko and Caspa, its older British stuff and has some of my favorite tracks mixed into it (Jahova is fucking AMAZING in its full version).

There's plenty of it that I can tolerate, I just get really annoyed when people try to act like it's some sort of musical revolution.

So i guess, as usual, my issue is more with people than it is with the actual thing - I might think these fucking "Harlem Shake" videos were funny if ALL THE PEOPLE weren't talking about it and sharing them on Facebook and shit. But because they do, I can't bring myself to be interested in them at all. It annoys the hell out of me.

It's just, not even a month ago it was Gangnam Style that everyone was talking about. We're such an ADD society, it's annoying to me. Used to be things were popular for a few years, now it's a few days. Just annoying to me.

Smoke a couple cigars too

To an extent I'm like that...the Gangam Style shit was beyond annoying....like fuck people Missy Elliot was making weirder and funnier videos than that in the 90s.....I mean I'm guilty of liking certain popular artists (Waka Floka Flame, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne) because they DO have some seriously good production and some catchy ass beats in their songs, but at the same time....that's music that I just think is "fun" and that I can stand to listen to with my more normal friends. I'm still pretty snobby about music that I consider important or whatever. Like I'm waiting with baited breath to review the new Killswitch album since Howard left and Jesse came back. Or anything Devin Townsend puts out or my boy Ihsahn....I consider both of them extremely revolutionary artists for their genres.

Anything Mystikal put out in the 90s was funnier than Gangham Style/Harlem Shake.

It's kind of funny how people will hate a certain thing just because other people like it. Imagine how much you're missing out on.

I don't hate something "just because other people like it", my hatred is just expedited when EVERY FREAKING PERSON on planet Earth won't shut up about it. I still would not like Dubstep even if nobody talked about it.

I blame the internet for that.....it helps perpetuate and spread annoying shit around the globe in a matter of days or months instead of years.

OH MY GOD, I HAD NO IDEA THAT YOU WERE EXAGGERATING

Should I link the definition for sarcasm? I was merely highlighting the fact that you tend to overreact just a little.

We were having a nice conversation. What is your problem?
