Overclocking newb

Its time to overclock my 2500k but it is somthing i have never done before. Any advice or can some one point me to a beginners guide?

i5-2500k

Bump the multiplier to 44x, sit back, and relax. 2500k makes overclocking so ridiculously easy it's unbelievable. Download CPU-z and CoreTemp to monitor system status and temps.

Don't let temps get higher than 60*C under load and you're fine. With your cooler you should be able to run mid 30s at idle. Right now mine runs low 40s due to the A/C not being on in my apartment, but that is still perfectly fine.

And download prime95. After you overclock, run prime95 for a couple hours. Make sure temps stay where you want them and that none of the workers shut down. If you get rounding errors, either drop the clock or up the voltage a bit.

Just a note, if temps get higher than 60 while running prime95, it's nothing to worry about. You are very likely never going to push your cpu as hard as p95 does.

Definitely true. Prime95 pushes your system to a point that you could never do on your own.
