I actually have high hopes for this.  Frank Darabont not only directed "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile", but also"the Mist" (all Stephen King stories), one of the darkest horror movies I've ever seen.

I want to see this! It may be a bit hoaky in some respects and a bit cliched but I like how they don't seem to be too hung up on having a happy ending.

I don't know how the series is going to be, but the graphic novel is fantastic

The only rip off is that he wakes up in a hospital, because the first few issues are a string of zombie movie cliche's where all the zombie stuff gets worked out, then it's all about the characters.  That's why it could never work as a movie.

Yeah, unfortunately there are only so many ways you can get a lead off into a zombie story. It's either in the fray, waking up alone, or having a voiceover. Most of them seem to follow the 'waking up alone' thing to some degree, whether it's going to bed and waking up with shit a whole lot different, waking up after being comatose, or a combination of the three (begins with fighting, then darkness and a voiceover, then wake up alone).

Yea I'm not sure how waking up alone suddenly changed simply because dude woke up alone...in a hospital

The lead off and explaining away the zombies have become different ways of saying "once upon a time..."  same shit, different words...what comes next is what matters.

I care very little for it at this point. We've only watched a few episodes from the current season and I'm having a hard time wanting to watch it.

Yeah it went from being a show I could miss to a show I couldn’t care less about.

I don't watch hardly any show. And the ones that people flip out over drive me nuts. I don't know what I hate more, the shows or the people who don't shut up about them.

I have never watched an episode of The Walking Dead but seeing the discussion in 2018 that it's lost its shit, I'm assuming it's a case of the show going on way too long.  Is the zombie fad still a thing other than this?

In my opinion, it's just things being really drawn out on the show. Some of the episodes are very artsy and accomplish very little.

The zombie fad is essentially gone other than The Walking Dead.

Gotcha, that seems to be happening a lot lately.  Big Bang Theory is another current offender of being on waaay past its expiration date.

Agreed. I still watch it but it's mostly because I've been along for the ride thus far and there's no good reason to get off.
