Won't start 2002 Cavalier
« on: September 01, 2011, 03:08:12 PM »
I accidently turned the car off in drive while I was parked.  I moved it back into park and tried to start it, and it won't start.  If I just turn the key into the On position I don't have any power, I can't even pop the trunk. What do I need to do to reset this?

Sounds like you may have blown a fuse? Seems weird... might be an ignition fuse.

No lights or anything?

No lights or anything, the clock or radio doesn't turn on either.

I'd test the battery...sounds like a dead cell.

EXACT same issue I had a year ago.

Won't work. The battery usually shorts itself out as a result. I did a load test on mine when it happened, at idle...the battery showed 12.4 volts. When a load applied...dropped to 0.6 volts.

It is possible since my GA uses the same 75 series side post battery as the Cavy.

I don't understand it though, I haven't had any issues with my battery.  But about 4 hours ago, when I turned it off in drive, while parked my issue came up.

I don't follow. I thought you said you turned it off in drive, put it in park, and tried to turn it back on and it didn't work? Where do the lights come in?

I forgot to mention the 4 hour gap between the two things, I turned the car off in drive, put it back into park.  Came back 4 hours later and It wouldn't start. my bad... I only posted this damn question on 3 different forums... I've got mountains of laundry, grocery list and an angry girlfriend.
