This is true. We are trying to think of cars that can beat a Cadillac on a track... clearly something has changed in the last few years LOL

LOL  Remember when it use to be big ol' boats that felt like the side was going to scrape the ground if you turned too hard?

Transporter 4 should be in the US and Statham should drive a black CTSV. I think that would be awesome.

I still maintain that 10 years ago I wouldn't have belived you if you told me that Caddy would build a car that could smite an M5 and then some.

I don't mind the old boats, but that was a different time and tastes have changed a lot since then. They have their place in history and what style of luxury they repersent(ed), but I'm glad the V isn't like any of them.

The XFR will lose and so will the C63, the only sedans that stand a chance is the panamera or FQ400.

Final lap times:
John Heinricy in #CTSV: 2:46:560
Aaron Link in #CTSV: 2:48:902
Brian Redman in #CTSV: 2:49:596
Michael Cooper in BMW M3: 2:50:424
Jack Baruth in #CTSV: 2:51:153
Lawrence Ulrich in #CTSV: 2:53:157
Bob Lutz in #CTSV: 2:56:321
Michael M in BMW M5: 3:05:398
Wes Siler in Mitsubishi EVO: 3:08:126
Chris Fairman in #CTSV: 3:14:292
Archan B. in Jaguar XF: 3:15:670
Tom L. in Audi RS 4: 3:15:702
Lutz was beat by an M3.

... But the fastest lap was still the CTS-V in more skilled hands.

Um, if it were the best car, it would be on top, wouldn't it LOL  Face it, the CTS-V is a better car.

The EVO was Jalopnik because Jag pussed out. Of course, I didn't care so much to see the Jag after reading up on it. I think it would have been neater to see the Merc if they hadn't bitched out.

notice the 10 second spread even among the same car?
unless all the drivers are pros, a contest like this doesn't really say much about the performance of the car.
it's scary that people as dumb as you are functioning members of society.

While I agree that is scary... you are wrong.

Until a M3 beats the CTS-V's laptimes with pros (such as the Nurburgring) you really have no leg to stand on.

I do give the kid credit though. He's super young and his only experience (that I can find) is that he attended the Skip Barber racing school.

And here is a response from the kid himself. Its funny that even he admits its not as good on the track, but catharsis has a dick up his ass because of "german engineering"  LOL

So here is my take on it guys:

I was hoping for rain all week because I figured Lutz would have some confidence issues in the rain. We got to the track and it was misting so got me going a little. I never expected to be able to beat Lutz in the ctsv, knowing the the ctsv was capable of. I haven't been on the track since july, but that didn't seem to effect me. In the first practice I didn't take that many laps, Maybe 5-6 hot laps. I was able to do this because I watched a lot of video before going to the track. I then just watched what braking points people like John Heinricy were using going into turn 1 because thats the only spot I seemed to have trouble. Then the challenge came around, On my out lap I just checked out where the wet spots were and then came the laps. My first hot lap was pretty good, but as I went through I knew a few spots that I could pickup time on the 2nd lap. I did just that picking up what I think was a full second on the 2nd hot lap, I would have liked to get a 3rd lap in but the brakes had checked out.

My impressions of the CTSV:

I got to drive the CTSV with two other people in the car, an added 300 lbs. I pulled out of the pits and was impressed by the power. Then coming out of turn 1 in 2nd gear I was really impressed by the power since in my car I had to use third and the M lacks in torque and overall grunt to be honest. I come up to a few turns after that and then go down the back straight and was VERY impressed by the brakes, they inspired a lot of confidence and as a driver thats what you want. Every second of the two laps I got in the car impressed me the brakes and the power mostly, the handling was right their with that of the M3. I would love to get some timed laps in the CTSV at Monticello Motor Club

When I graduate and get a job, the CTS-V will be the first car I look at.

When you graduate the first thing you'll be looking at is debt consolidation. LOL

There may not be anything out right now but BMW and Mercedes wont let that glove stay on the ground for too long.

As Kalgorn said I get paid to go to school and my tuition is waived, also I get paid enough to where I just bought a condo in the Boston area.

excuse me?
I wasn't arguing the M3 is faster.
"best" is purely subjective, I forgot that I have to explain that sort of thing to you troglodytes.
go fuck yourself.
