Some people just don't know what they have, in which case they never should have owned it to begin with.

they only prob got 1/4 of what they could have sold it for by themselves, fucking retards. Trade your clunker, clunker gets melted into shitty steel, shitty steel is bought by pacific rim auto maker, they build shitty car to send back and sell new on cash for clunkers program. Only Americans making money are dealers, way to go.

I said some collector cars would get the axe...

There was a 95 Impala SS on the local Ford lot.  F*cker was spotless at that.

they showed a clean looking big body SS on the local news, how the hell is this a good idea? People driving "shitty" cars usually have a reason they drive shitty cars, the cant afford the car note! I drive a shitty car daily because I can fix my shit and no car payment is fantastic, didnt Top Gear have a thing on their version of cash for clunkers?

Ugh... that's just sad. If all they do is destroy the motor it would be a good choice for an LS1 conversion though Grin

I doubt the AWD would stand up to an LS1 though would it? I know those little 6's make some power in those, but that LS1's got more. I haven't seen too many of these, and even fewer that are highly modified with the AWD still in them.

I'd take one just the way it is.. maybe give it a bit more boost or something but them things will flat out scream for what they are.

not a ls1, but yeah. More or less stock awd drive system, has a lsd in the rear only change to it other than the motor swap.

Oh I'd definitely stay with the turbo 6 if I had an original one, but seeing that this one's engine will be destroyed...

I know there are AWD LS1 Typhoons out there, I'm not sure of what they've had to do to the drivetrain. I've read they're pretty similar to the stock drivetrain but the Syclone has an AWD Borg-Warner transfer case in place of the regular 4x4 S-15 one.

That's what I'm talkin bout. Cool

I love me a V8 swapped S10.. but they are just way too common. Although an AWD V8 S10 would be seriously fun.

Saw this on another forum. A few guys from syty.com are trying to work out a deal with the sales manager to sell it to them.

That will only happen if the sales manager wants to eat the $4,500 (or whatever it earned for trade), or he sells it to the syty.com guys for whatever the dealership gave the original owner.

Technically, any car coming in from Cash For Clunkers is property of the dealership at first. The government collects the vehicles after destruction and pays the dealership compensation for slashing the price on the new car.

If the customer got the full $4,500 for that trade, the syty guys could possibly walk in there with $4,500 and hand it to the sales manager. The dealership will break even and the government never has to know the vehicle was traded in for the clunker program in the first place.

True, but I have a feeling the sales manager is trying to gouge them. If someone comes in for one of the clunkers, he knows he has something worth some cash. Wouldn't be surprised if he is trying to line his pocket.

But wouldn't there be a paper trail with the new car. I thought every new car had to match up with the one traded in. If they see 53 new cars have been sold with the program and there are only 51 in the lot, will they not shit?

Or am I too baked? LOL

Not sure how it would be done, but I have learned that dealers will always find a way to make things work...legitimate or not.

Too baked.  Not EVERYONE is doing the cash for clunkers thing.  One or two might go out on regular sales, and like the guy said, the government pays only when it collects, so it won't get the paperwork.
