Technomancy automotive sub-categories
« on: April 03, 2011, 05:03:10 PM »
Onyx, you mentioned having boards for popular manufacturers.. I have a feeling you were just joking, but it gave me an idea.

What about child boards for:
Off-Road and 4x4
Street and Strip
Restoration and Modification
Maintenance and Repair

under an "Auto-Tech" general forum?

You don't get to make that decision.

I'm looking to cut the board way down anyway.  As for automotive manufacturers, I was serious, but I'm willing to listen to other ideas for it.  I'm working on a test forum to see how far down I can cut the forums we have.  Besides, what Nick is talking about are child forums.  It would help cut the initial look of the forums back by allowing me to put, say, car tech and auto diy into one forum.  Though if I did something like that, Nick, I'd combine rest and mod with maint and repair.  I'm probably going to try to cut the initial look back and go more with child boards.  But I'm still working on that.

Since we're all talking about child forums in here, can we get some kind of layout option to put the child forums below the thread listing, instead of above?

Yeah, I don't (hopefully) the memorial forum getting too much traffic, really neither is that relationshit board, so it would be less distracting to move to to the bottom of the Lounge.

There could just be a whole seperate section, like a "Members Only" section featuring things like the Memorial Board or Venom's advice board.. I see Venom's place as a place for people to go for REAL advice without being torn apart by the A-R general public. Keeping that members only would be wise. Also, any trouble makers could be removed and not allowed to view that board.

I personally think the board could be re-arranged a bit. The forum listing could go like this:

Anti-Rice General Discussion <-- This would be the section heading
The Lounge <--- This would be the individual main board
The Brothel
-Free For All <---- "-" denotes a child board
Membermobiles

-Spy Photos (this is Anti-Rice.com, Spy Photos should be prominent)

Oh, as for manufacturers, I'll probably make it a bit more broad...like "GM" and "Ford" and "Chrysler" and "VW Group", etc.
