Cadillac

Where to begin. I'll just throw a list of the innovations that came from the "Standard of the World" (a slogan which was adopted after Cadillac was the first American automaker to win Great Britain's Dewar Trophy, given to the manufacturer making the year's most significant automotive advancement. This was given after 3 random Cadillacs were disassembled, parts scrambled, then reassembled.), followed by some cum inducing photography

1910 - First fully enclosed body, offered as a limousine

1912 - First to adopt an electrical system to handle self-starting, ignition, and lighting.

1915 - First mass produced V8 engine - thermostatic controlled/water cooled, 314ci with 70hp (designed to reach 65mph, which was faster than most roads could handle at the time)

1929 - Synchro-Mesh tranny introduced

1941 - Alongside Buick, Hydra-matic tranny introduced that boasted fluid coupling and 4 forward speeds

1948 - First curved windshield

1949 - the infamous 331ci, the first overhead valve V8, good for 160hp

1957 - The Eldorado Brougham brought a few features into the automotive market including a power seat with memory, automatic door locks, "wide oval" (low profile) tires, forged-aluminum wheels and air suspension.

1964 - climate control introduced (thermostatically regulated heating, ventilating and air conditioning system)

1971 - Rear computerized anti-lock brakes

1974 - Airbags

If there is anything I'm missing, please chime in.

Olds had a lot of firsts in the auto industry. Speedometer, ABS, air bags, among other things.
