I guess there's always the executive overturning by the owner as a possibility....seems like I can remember that happening in the (not recent) past, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it if everyone voted to ban.

Overturning of what?

The vote of the appeals committee. Highly unlikely though considering the owner is the one that came up with the entire concept of the ban appeal.

She did appeal.

The appeals are not set in place for someone else to speak for you because if the staff finds that you deserved the ban, then the punishment is doubled.

Heh. Seems to me that of course someone would try and appeal for themselves. Most people never feel like they deserve the punishment they got.

Well logic comes into play, if you get BANT for knowingly and obviously breaking a rule....chances are you won't appeal it because it would be stupid, but if you catch a random admin PMS ban or lose the unofficial AR popularity contest and get banned then its worth at least appealing it because if the appeal is denied you haven't really lost anything.

I see what you mean, I just think of the system differently as a whole.

I think the whole appeal thing isn't really necessary.. I mean, if someone gets banned for a clearly unfair reason, more than likely other members will speak up. It's happened in the past, and even the admin who did the banning realized they accidentally banned the wrong person, or whatever the case.

It's a nice gesture but on the whole I think the admins usually make the right decision when it comes to banning someone. I think the only times the members ever argue with the admins about banning someone is when we think someone SHOULD be banned, but they aren't.

There is no debate on this.  The tool is there for a reason.
