civics suck!
« on: December 16, 2010, 03:22:53 PM »
Updates on Page 2

im sure sentry will like this.
vitara build, bullseye 57trim turbo on e85
a friends 93 civic dx coupe
sohc d16z6 home-budget built by my friend.. its amazing how far the car has come with the way his finances are
He and another friend with a sohc each used to be ricers but they saw the light :)

This thing don't look pretty. From the factory it was teal, paint was horrible when he got it. He rattle canned it black.
Then another friend parted out his 500whp civic and he took all the red body parts he could off of it, to try to get his car looking halfway decent, and painted what he couldnt transfer (quarters mainly) red trying to match. Definitely looks better than it used to.
The front bumper is a gun metal gray as its the first thing he took his time painting, and he wants to eventually paint his entire car that way.

His best track time is 11.6@119 basically untuned with his new build.
Prior he went 11.8@117( i think that was his mph) and that was on a bone stock head, stock intake manifold, etc.. So there's a LOT more potential out of the new build properly tuned as he has one of the best cams available with good springs/retainers and new intake manifold. Original build spun a bearing, found out it was a bad oil pump

Anyways either way its an amazing little rocket, no one ever expects it - 100% street car.
Warning: It does have a few stickers (I <3 Haters and Go Autoworks) but its nothing like <STREETGLOW>  or  stupid shit. Also has a fart can, not many other good options though considering his exhaust he made himself and just bought the cheapest ebay muffler he could find since it was way to loud straight piped.

Used to have tons of issues hooking, always running 13's with 11 second trap speeds, finally invested in slicks and his first run ran 12.0@118 then 11.8@117

Yeah roof is currently unpainted, it's his next planned attempt at painting the gun metal color and doing it right so he never painted it red yet.

First start up of build
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hI12ayPG7I
A clip of its acceleration from over a year ago, full tank of gas, 3 less pounds of boost and a couple less mods than it has had since he ran 11's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOCNkNuSaQY
Just against an LT1 who knew he'd lose, just a near full bolt on LT1 with shift kit and unknown head work
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhuqZ0wla7Q

Heres a vid of him racing my talon at the track.
I had a broken 1-2 shift fork so yeah I was screwed, either way his car was way faster than my talon. I think he only ran in low 12's on this run though due to spinning.

You never ever reuse the following when you do a rebuild.

Oil pumps
Water Pumps
Timing chain/belts.

Yeah but on his budget he assumed the pump was good and the motor just finally let go.
Water pump / Timing stuff is all still pretty fresh. I'd have no problem reusing timing equipment with less than 15k on it if it looked in good shape. Although my self-idea is to change it at half the recommended maintenance time, so around 30k for DSM's is where I'd change it

Ahhh familiar stuff.

Go-Autoworks is good shit, I'm using their oil line kit and a catchcan fitting, and also ordered my Walbro pump from them.

There's a dude in BC running mid 10s with a budget Vitara build and a stock head, revving to like 8200ish. Ebay 57 trim and a homemade front mount manifold.

Got to get me some slicks.

Oil pumps
Water Pumps
Timing chain/belts.

Is that a Honda specific thing?  Because all of those items are perfectly reusable on small blocks.

Nah just good practice.

Belt, tensioner, and water pump have 50k service intervals.

Cool car.  I think if I were to ever do one for a quick daily driver, I'd do a vitara/tt rod setup.  Cheap and effective.

Although I think for anyone looking to go fast(low 10s or better), the B series is just too easy to switch over to now a days.

Tuner toys disappeared off the face of the earth some time ago. The rods-to-buy these days for Vitara builds are from FJDistributors. And yeah if you want single digit ETs, B or K series is better. But for a bangin little street car on a budget, built D is the way to go. :)

what do a 400 hp supra and a 1000hp supra have in common?

a 13 sec 1/4 mile

there is a kid in my town with a dyno queen 650ish rwhp and the car will still only runs 13s. Partial driver error but the rest is the car.

It probably would.

I would expect it to.  Being that it has easily 120hp on me, and the fact that my Accord is a 3000 dollar car.  A beat-ass old Z28, not so much.  I've beaten them like they stole something time and time again.

The Supra's always running 13s thing is kinda a non-issue now.  People have actually figured out how to make them hook.  That combined with smaller quicker-spooling twin and sequential turbo set ups allowing less lag are making Supras actual 1/4 contenders.  Methinks your friend has no idea how to drive, or has his car set up wrong.

Do some research and you'll see what I'm talking about.

wow taking the supra joke to seriously, i could care less about the kids supra. He got some trust fund money when he hit the age of 18 and went out and spent like 70k on a pre built supra.

As for the camaro i could care less if its faster, i was joking around and it seems you got your thong all bunched up ;) I have a ~400rwhp car and i drive it like a grandmother.

Once again, being blunt =/= being pissed off and/or butthurt.
