1000hp Supercharged Katech C5 Vette
« on: July 28, 2010, 12:56:17 PM »
Talked to this guy at the ALMS NorthEast Grand Prix. The car isn't quite my style, and may have some rice on it, but most of what is there is quite functional.

Built by PDAFT Engineering, they've built corvettes that quite often win the NASA ST1 Series.

I'd love to take a ride in that, but at the same time I wouldn't really want to be seen in it.  That styling is pretty bad.

It looks alot like the team corvette cars... I hate the rims but otherwise it's not all that bad.
1,000 horse power though... makes things alright.  The idea is you could drive it so fast people couldn't see how ugly it is?

Ummm... a rear wing on this is more than functional.

I'd say the front and rear light blackouts are rice. The rest I'd say isn't quite rice.

I'm willing to bet money it handles better at 150mph with that wing than without it.

It looks like a riced NSX.

Maybe it's good to drive, but who knows? But I wouldn't mind trying it :)

I have to agree with everyone on major rice issues. Ugly as fuck.

But, opinion has shifted on spoiler/wing usage.  :willy: They can and are extremely functional with aerodynamic calibration, especially one designed for the corvette like that one. Huge difference when going balls out on the track. Wings have been a nasty thing for us rice haters for decades. But, sometimes theres a reason for them.

I know this isn't a good excuse and not very accurate, but close. I love Forza, like many of you. My favorite car to build are vettes... anyway try this out. Buy a corvette on forza and do some test driving. Go balls out and check your lap times like at Laguna Seca, and I mean down to the 10ths. Add HP, try again. Then youll start feeling the back end just not wanting to sit down. Pop on the "forza" wing, that ugly ass black one thats fully adjustable. Test again, see if your lap times improve, mine do. See how much better it holds through high speed turns afterward. Such a massive difference.

So yeah, fuck rice. But, sometimes wings can be just as functional as stickier tires, wider wheels, better shocks and engine mods. Theres nothing like mechanical grip, but I'm sure you can feel a major difference if you had that wing on or off during a hot lap.

When my real life 240sx had the 225 rear tires, it at 400 rwhp, it handled and drove exactly like the forza 3 silvia with 470ish bhp with same sized tires.

Im just saying..

The C6R Vettes have that wing for a reason. I can guarantee you its not there for looks. If it was, it wouldn't be there.

This car is ugly, not my style, but its fast. The wing serves a purpose and its gotten to 207mph before. The only "rice" I see are the head and tail lights. The rest isn't pretty, but its functional.

While they're not the most tasteful thing, I would have to say that they are on there with function in mind.  Original pop up headlights would create a hell of a lot of drag at high speeds

Its functional but I could really do without the two tone paintjob, some cars can rock it.. corvettes cannot

I don't understand all of the bitching about the headlights.. they are more aerodynamic than the stock lights when they are flipped up. Sure, the black covers are kinda dumb.. but I doubt it really affects light output so bad it renders them useless.

I think the worst problem with this car is just the paint job and the fact that the two tone is even on the wheels. It just makes it tacky, paint it all a solid color with some brushed aluminum or even polished aluminum wheels it would look soo much better.

I agree completely, this would make the car ten fold better
