1990 civic seat belt
« on: October 13, 2010, 11:42:02 PM »
well today the belt rewind finally broke on the hatch, I was manually pushing the belt back in but now that doesnt work (no its not the motorized). I have the rest of the belt just dangling  ::) How the heck do I fix a spring loaded belt device? And I heard somewhere honda will replace a seat belt free of charge for the lifetime of the vehicle (seams a bit far fetched) anyone hear heard of this?

Any ideas, its super annoying and its only been like this for a day.

Never heard that, but call them up and see if they will.

Just replace the belt. It is just as easy to do, and you will not have to worry about it for a while.

Have the same issue in my camaros.... but there was a recall for that... to bad they like to pick and choose which vin numbers they want to honor...  Could be that the spring needs to be replaced, or that over the years your belt mechanism spread and requires something to pull it together like a clip retainer kind of thing.

Is it worth pulling apart? No
