Wow! That thing escalated VERY quickly if those fire pics are within 10 minutes.  That's insane.

You should see a mobile home burn...  I've seen them go from oven fire to total loss in less than ten minutes.

I could not imagine having to sit there and watch my car burn, even being just my DD or whatever. That'd be rough in itself.

Glad he was able to get out ok and save his stuff, definite bonus.

And the reason for there being such a large gap from engine to bumper mount, is because the radiator/condenser/e-fans/support is all gone and melted.. get rid of all that stuff and there's a decent amount of room.

Any idea what caused this? That looks like a fairly new car and they don't tend to burst into flames easily.

Thank God he was ok and hopefully his insurance company will square him away.

No... should be "wive's tale"

Yeah, bit of a difference.

Yeah, car fires are not fun, I have seen a few and even witnessed one from beginning to end, car caught fire as it pulled onto our lot a couple years back, it took a few seconds to really get started then started moving quick. Still have remnants of it on the lots driveway. I wonder what had caused this one though, since its a fairly new car.

Not sure what caused it.  His insurance company was going to look it over yesterday, so I'll likely hear from him today.

The car was 2004, so not that old, but it has been plagued with engine problems since he got it.
