Verizon - Sudden Surge In Data Consumption

Has anyone with Verizon ever have an inexplicable jump in data usage?  We had warnings about low data pop up 10 days into our month (6Gb plan) when we rarely use more than 3.8Gb in 30 days.

Nothing has changed with our surfing habits and I did a factory refresh on my phone just to be safe, and the data is still draining.  Some even drained while we were at home on our WiFi.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but I'm calling bullshit.  There's plenty of stories online that this has happened to other people.  Anyone here have this?

Pull up the app data usage and you'll be able to figure out what's using so much data.

It says it was Firefox, but my surfing habits haven't changed.  I did a factory reset and started using Chrome and it still went through 5% of our data plan in less than a day.

And now Chrome is the offender? I don't know why two separate browsers would be the issue - that's very strange.

Curiously enough I pay to add data and the mystery consumption falls off.  I'm an unhappy customer.
