So this will be fun...
« on: October 22, 2015, 10:53:21 AM »

After talking to several mechanics and Luos, I'm going to put some cheap dino oil in it with a cheap filter, run it for a couple minutes, drain it, put some cheap dino in it with a cheap filter again, drain it, and see what happens.

I know the plastic intakes on these can have some problems so I"ll check that out as well, but if it ends up being a head gasket, I'm going to get some head and valve work done while they are off...to be honest, I hope there's no issue and it's just from sitting

What car is this, the Bird? I'd believe intake over head gasket.

It's not that hard of a job to do yourself. Biggest thing is keeping the push rods in order, thoroughly cleaning the valley without getting debris into the engine, and proper torque/tightening sequence. Other than that it's really not hard.

Yeah, the T/A.  After talking with Luos and a some other guys, they all stated that it's not outside of the realm of possibility that it's just from sitting for so many years.  With that hope, I'm going to do the whole oil change process and see what happens.

After doing several flushes when it starts looking better, start adding some sea foam into the mix. It helped on my old turbo toyota pickup before I did the head gasket.

Intake gaskets would not cause this on the LS1
You can remove the entire intake without even seeing the pushrods (unless you look down in the intake ports on the head).
The intake gaskets prevent a vacuum leak and nothing else on the LS1.
Just FYI

Ah, ok, so then it's not the same as the L32 where when it warps, it will leak coolant.  I was hearing mixed statements on that.

Ok, seems to have been just condensation.  I was wrong about no coolant in the radiator (long, embarrassing story...).  The oil was lighter and had more of an oil consistency after the first change, and after the second it was even better.

Lastly, old H rated tires suck ass for traction...though they sucked ass when new too.

Image fail.

It shows up for me in Tapatalk.

Cannot tell if it clean oil or milky oil due to the light. But I'm going to assume 'clean'.

Cleaner, not entirely clean, but a far cry better.
