Yeah dude it took me a while to even listen to the newest album.  And I was a pretty big fan of Ascendancy.

But keep in mind those songs I posted are pretty much what got me started on metal, the credit goes to ATR mainly.  I listen to different stuff nowadays, but most modern metal bands just don't appeal to me, even my old favorites are making shitty albums nowadays.

ATR...man, I want to keep liking them, and even though the newest album isn't total shit, it keeps getting harder with every release. Trivium...meh they lost me at the Metallica cover album point, and I've never wanted to revisit their newer stuff, I just stick to the first two albums and call it good.

Also, best music video ever...

ATR gets a free pass from me.  Overcome or whatever sucked, but I can see past that, haha.

As for Trivium, like I said, it took me a while to even try Shogun.

New stuff from Trivium (newer than the Crusade, not really new).

Blues Metal, anyone? I don't know what you classify King's X as. Sometimes people say "Yeah, they're metal"... but there only seems to be metal influences in a few songs. Most of it seems concentrated on their Dogman album (their best album, IMO), but whatever you consider King's X, there is absolutely no denying that these guys have a ton of talent and are criminally underrated.

Same here. I just don't listen to any Metallica made after 1989 is all. That fixes that.

Megadeth's newer stuff is pretty good though, so not all "newer" thrash metal is bad.

Oho...

Note, the album "Dark Matter Dimensions", the original lead singer Christian isn't with the band anymore. They had to find two vocalists to match Christian's amazing vocal range. However, the album is very much worth listening to.

"Holographic Universe" is my favorite. :yup:

The new vocalists aren't bad, but I can tell the subtle differences, mainly the clean vocals. The harsh/death vocals are spot on to Christian's.

I'm just happy to see the band march on. :yup:

Holy shit you guise....holy shit...So the first single from the new Jesse Leach/Adam D project Times of Grace has been released..and I must say, Jesse's voice just keeps getting better with time. I wonder if this could lead to Jesse retaking vocal duties in KsE from Howard....which might not be a bad thing considering how emo Howard has been getting lately, anyway here's the video for the first single, Strength in Numbers:

Not sure if you guys are into doom metal but I found out about these guys a few months ago. Pretty fuckin killer. Remind of an early Sabbath with a chick singer.

I like some doom, but mainly the more southern stuff that incorporates a lot of sludge elements.

Skyharbor, a progressive djent style band from India (former singer of Tesseract), and Dead Letter Circus, an alternative style rock band from Australia. Everything else has just been new albums from currently loved bands (Cannibal Corpse, Meshuggah, Veil of Maya, Whitechapel, Periphery, Neurosis...)

Hey 16as, I'm bumping this because the new Ghost (BC...some stupid shit they had to add for some copy right dispute or some shit, I dunno) album is out, and while it isn't strictly "metal" of today it has a very 70s metal sound that I absolutely dig and super retardedly over the top "satanic" lyrics.

Dez can't stand the fact that he was in Coal Chamber anymore. He has "Coal Chamber" tattooed on one of his arms, he always covers it with something.

I really have a soft spot for them, I still love to break out Unleashed Memories and Comalies often.

Comalies is the only album of theirs I really, really like...I got the best Lap Dance of my life to Heaven's a Lie....I saw them open up for Disturbed a couple years ago, I would like them a hell of a lot more if the male vocalist would just shut the fuck up and go away.

Really good live video showing how amazing Courtney is on songs actually written for her voice, compared to the songs with the vocal melodies Krysta wrote...still love IWABO, and Krysta's stuff especially, but Courtney really blew me away on the new album...very curious to see where they go from here.

HOLY COCK BONERS....here's them doing two of my absolute favorites back to back...Firebees (new song) and You Know That Ain't Them Dog's Real Voices (Krysta era)
